Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) is a Federal initiative established by President George W. Bush in May 2001. PSN is committed to reducing gun crime in America through enhanced penalties and stricter enforcement policies for violators.

The Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney￿s Office is the recipient of a Federal grant through the Project Safe Neighborhoods Initiative.  The U. S. Attorney￿s Office for the Eastern District of Arkansas and Steve Dalrymple  of the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney￿s Office have partnered to prosecute gun crimes federally.  Offenders who are prosecuted Federally must serve the full sentence term with NO chance of an early release.

In addition to prosecuting gun crimes federally, a non-profit corporation.  Arkansans for a Safer Arkansas, was established to coordinate outreach activities.
